Yamnuska On Saturday, April 16, 2005 ... I decided to hike over Yam travelling from East to West. Last summer a small group of Mt. Manics tried to do it from West to East but got off route near the "very scary traverse" (name given to the crux by Ben Gadd in the book called "The Yam - 50 years of climbing on Yamnuska". Going from East to West is easier in terms of finding the start of the steel cable handline installed by Ben Gadd and Dave Dornian at the crux. I started hiking at 8:00am ... was at the East end of Yam at 9:15am, at the crux at 10:20am, the summit at 11:5am and back at the car at 1:00pm ... total time 5 hours.
